“Vítkovice and Tatran to Compete in Super Final for Champions Cup Spot” with Otrokovice’s Relegation and Butchis’ Promotion in Tow

The winner of the super final will also secure participation in the Champions Cup. Bohemians have already reached there thanks to their January triumph in the Czech Floorball Cup. But they ended up without a medal in the league, even though fourth place is a historic success for them. Bronze was won by Mladá Boleslav.

The most successful team in the history of Tatran will be attacking for the 17th title, but they have been waiting for the triumph since 2015. Since then, they were in the super final for the first time last year and lost to Mlada Boleslav 1:2 in extra time. In this season, they became the first team in history to dominate the regular season without losing a point, and out of a total of 36 games this year, they only lost two in the series with Mlada Boleslaví.

In the beginning, Tatran spared its most productive player Marko Beneš, who entered the game only during the second period. Even without him, Prague took the lead at 8:36 when Matěj Havlas found the ideal shooting position after Tomáš Hanák’s assist and beat Lukáš Bauer. In exactly three minutes, Milan Tomašík equalized from a standard situation, who beat Tomáš Jurec through a gap in the wall between the legs of a kneeling Havlas.

In the second period, Martin Tokoš had the best chance to convert in the 34th minute from a breakaway, but he did not beat Jurca. Immediately on the other side, Havlas hit the top post. In the 47th minute, Bauer pushed Jonáš Kreysa’s shot onto the left post and moments later missed the open Havlas goal from close range. In the set-up, the home captain Jan Natov went to pike and after a pass from Milan Meliš, Šindelář headed exactly into the upper left corner of Bauer’s goal.

Vítkovice will appear in the 11th edition of the one-match superfinal for the eighth time and will compete for the eighth triumph in the top competition, in which the jubilee 30th edition is being played, but in the 2019/20 season the title was not awarded due to the coronavirus pandemic. The last time Vítkovice celebrated was in 2019, when they triumphed at home in Ostrava.

Although they did not convert the first match point against Bohemians on Wednesday and lost in front of their own audience 5:6, they have already succeeded in Prague. Already in the 15th minute they were leading 5:0, after Adam Zubek framed the opening cannonade with two hits, and in the meantime Ondřej Jankovský, Lukáš Fukala and Jakub Hubálek made their mark.

At 17:19, the best scorer of the regular season Jakub Buršík scored in a power play, but in the 32nd minute, Jan Šebesta restored the five-goal lead to the guests with a numerical advantage. Bohemians corrected the situation again 36 seconds before the end of the second period thanks to Ondřej Kawulok.

In the 43rd minute, home captain Filip Forman reduced the score to 3:6, but Martin Gattnar and Matyáš Šindler answered for Vítkovice. After another correction by Forman, Michal Pažák scored on a power play into an empty net. Karel Petrák gave Bohemians hope in the 57th minute, but Hubálek added the second goal of the match when the home team played without a goalkeeper. Patrik Šebek made his mark for the home team.

After 12 years, Otrokovice were relegated from the Superliga, they will be replaced by Burtchis

In the sixth game of the 2nd round of the play down, Otrokovice lost to the home team Karlovy Vary 3:4 after separate raids and lost the series 2:4 for the matches.

West Bohemia still has a fight for survival among the elite in the playoff against the defeated finalist of the first league Kladno. The gunners lost in the third game of the final of the second highest competition at home to Butchis 5:6 in extra time, despite already leading 5:1. Butchis dominated the series 3-0.

Otrokovice advanced to the top competition for the first time in 2011 and have played continuously until now. In 2014, the Panthers reached fourth place in the then extra league and in the successful 2013/14 season they also played in the final of the domestic cup.

In the regular part of this year, they finished penultimate with ten points ahead of Karlovy Vary. In the 1st round of the play down, they lost to Pardubice 3:4 in matches and did not even manage a series with a newcomer to the Super League.

Butchis was still active in the fifth highest competition in the 2017/18 season and after two successive promotions, he spent three years in the national league. He reached the first league last year and immediately advanced to the super league.

Coach Jan Zahalka’s players dominated the regular season of the first league with a lead of 16 points over second-placed Ústí nad Labem. They eliminated Sokol Brno in the quarter-finals (3:0 on matches), Hattrick Brno in the semi-finals (3:0) and did not hesitate against Kladno either. Jakub Černý completed the progress at 64:03 with the second goal of the match.
