ponorogo.voice.com – City Food and Agriculture Security Agency (DKPP) Officer MadisonEast Java, is conducting intensive monitoring of the health of poultry livestock to be aware of disease transmission bird flu or Avian Influenza (AI).
This step was taken as an anticipatory action following the case of bird flu which has spread again in several regions in Indonesia.
“Until now there has been no finding of bird flu in Madiun City. However, we urge breeders to regularly check the health of their livestock,” said Margaretha Dian, Sub-Coordinator of Livestock and Animal Health, Madiun City DKPP, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 4, 2023
DKPP officers from Madiun City visited chicken farmers in the local area to provide education about bird flu and how to prevent it, and asked breeders to always keep the cages clean so that the livestock feel comfortable and healthy.

Margaretha Dian explained that the AI virus has a higher fatality rate than other livestock diseases such as “lumpy skin disease” (LSD) and foot and mouth disease (FMD).
“AI can infect other birds and humans. Mostly it attacks chickens, wild ducks and Peking ducks,” he said.
The AI virus can be transmitted to other birds and humans, and mostly affects chickens, wild ducks and Peking ducks. Indirect transmission can be through dust, feed, drinking water, and cage equipment.
Affected birds can die suddenly without any special symptoms. Even though there have been no cases of bird flu in Madiun City, DKPP officers asked residents, especially breeders, to always be vigilant and maintain the health of livestock so that losses due to dead livestock can be prevented.
