Two classes from the Jeanne d’Arc high school, as part of EMC (Moral and Civic Education) work, have thought about voluntary actions strengthening social ties in the locality of Figeac.
Thus, following a competition of ideas whose jury was made up of students, teachers and the principal Guy-Michel Mahieu, the class of 1st G2 chose to defend the animal cause by organizing a collection for the animal shelter of Figeac in Nayrac, collecting sanitary and food products, old fabrics and toys from the school.
On April 4, a group representing this class was received by Virginia, a volunteer from the shelter, to distribute the fruits of this collection and participate in a visit thus assisting in the care of the animals.
In 1°G1, several actions to raise awareness of respect for Women’s Rights were carried out in March.
The other projects proposed (tutoring between students to fight against dropping out of school, correspondence with isolated elderly people in the Bataillé nursing home, etc.) remain at the initiative of high school students in the coming weeks.
These voluntary actions brought life to the class-group by creating a new cohesion. They also made it possible to understand the importance of volunteering in social ties and the role of Figeac associations, thus giving them the will to get involved in the life of their city.
