Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed the operation of catching hands or OTT in Meranti, Riau.
During the OTT, the KPK caught the hands of Meranti Regent Muhammad Adil.
“It’s true, last night (6/4) the KPK team succeeded in arresting several parties who were carrying out corruption in Meranti Islands Regency, Riau,” said Head of KPK Reporting Unit Ali Fikri, Friday (7/4), quoted from detikcom.
“Several parties have been arrested including the Regent,” he added.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of Meranti Regent Muhammad Adil following the sting operation.
Previously, a number of Meranti Regency Government offices were seen to have been sealed.
In the video and photos received, you can see the room of the Meranti Regional Secretary (Sekda) which was sealed. There is also a Public Relations and Protocol room with the Meranti Regency logo.
Apart from the secretary’s room, the room for the head of the general division was seen to be sealed. The room was sealed in white with black and red writing ‘Under KPK Monitoring’.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of the Meranti Islands, Asmar, when confirmed, admitted that he did not know about the arrest. However, he got a lot of reports.
“I don’t know that, many people have asked me. I was asleep earlier, but I don’t know, maybe it is. But I don’t know,” said Asmar.
