RBC Sport Reports on ISU’s Decision Timing Regarding the Admission of Russian Figure Skaters

The international federation said that the season is almost over, so the IOC recommendations will be discussed in the summer or autumn

The International Skating Union (ISU) will consider the issue of allowing Russian athletes to compete in June or October. TASS in the press office of the organization.

“The ISU took note of the IOC statement <...> with his recommendations for international federations on the participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport in international competitions. Since the season is already coming to an end, the ISU Board will discuss this issue at its next meeting either in June or October,” the ISU said.

On March 28, the IOC recommended to allow athletes of the two countries in a neutral status to individual competitions.

Russian riders and horses were not returned to international competitions

Under the auspices of the ISU, competitions in figure skating, speed skating and short track are held. Russian figure skaters have already missed two world championships.

A number of international federations, in particular fencing, taekwondo, table tennis and wrestling, have already admitted Russian athletes. In tennis, the Russians could play in a neutral status last season, in boxing – under their own flag since October.
