Although the weather is not warm, outdoor work is already chasing one another. More than one reader complained that there are many potholes on the roads after winter. We were interested in whether the Klaipėda district councils have enough resources and equipment to manage the environment. What St. The price of outdoor decorations for Easter in the townships, is there already a plan for what flowers and plants will be spread in the townships in the warm season? – we asked such questions to several elders.
More flowers for the anniversary
Valdemaras Žigus, councilor of Gargždai borough, informed “Banga” that the park is currently being cleaned and leaves are being collected. “We plan to fix the potholes that appeared on the city streets after the winter in April. We scooped up the gravel left over from the street paving. We plan to sweep city streets and sidewalks with a vacuum machine in the next two weeks. We take care of flower gardens. We carry branches. We take care of the gravel roads and plan to “feed” the gravel roads with gravel during the month of April,” V. Žigus taught.
According to him, the municipality has enough equipment. There are also enough people at the moment. Renovated the equipment park, purchased a tractor trailer with a pump for collecting leaves. He also received a Rider garden tractor last week, which will be used for maintenance of green areas and for cleaning sidewalks in winter.
The councilor of Gargždai township said that the landscaping vision has been planned, we just have to wait for warmer weather to implement it. “This year is exceptional for the city of Gargžda because of the anniversary, so the city will bloom even more. Annual flowers in king beds, concrete pots, flower beds. The dominant colors are pink, blue, white. We will also pay great attention to the installation of new greenery and planting trees,” said the interviewer.
When asked about the beautiful Easter decorations adorning the center of the district, he replied: “Decorations have become an integral part of our work. Every year we try to create something new. Therefore, during the Easter period, the residents of Gargždi will be delighted with brightly colored decorations. The entire Gargždai precinct joins this, and sometimes communities and organizations, which is very gratifying. Most of the time, we make decorations from the goodies found in nature, so their price is often just a cost of time.”
Pruned branches – for scouts
Daiva Bliūdžiuvienė, the elder of the Priekulė ward, assured that spring work is underway: “We have been continuing the tradition for 4 years, when we carry out maintenance work in abandoned territories where state plots have not been formed. This year, the spaces on Pamiariu and Turgaus streets started to be cleaned. We are organizing the collection of branches from Vingios Park, where the city festival is traditionally held. Branches are removed from the areas where pruning was carried out: Pangesų st. Pangesu village, in the Venckų settlement around the waterhole, Pievu st. and Turgaus st. the city of Priekulė.”
According to the elder of Priekulės precinct, about 10 m3 of pruned branches of the appropriate diameter will be handed over to the scouts, to set up their camp in the territory of Priekulės precinct. The flight will take place in July, the planned number of participants is about 2,000 scouts from Lithuania and other countries of the world.
The renovation of the outdoor inventory is also underway, the wooden parts of the benches and tables need to be replaced, the stability of the wooden parts of the suspension bridges must be checked and the wood replaced as needed.
Elder D. Bliūdziuvienė is happy that the Dituva primary school community was the first to volunteer – they will clean up the old Dituva cemetery.
In 2023, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the accession of Little Lithuania to Lithuania, the municipality will carry out the campaign “100 trees for Vingios Park”. Preparatory work is currently underway, wood is being prepared for the stakes needed to tie the trees. You will need at least 200 stakes. The farmer V. Klimovas, UAB “Metvora” contributes to these works, currently they are still discussing the planting of tree species, a purchase will be made for their acquisition.
The expected product is a truck
Speaking about the equipment, the elder of Priekulė ward pointed out that the most awaited item is a truck, the purchase of which has been completed, the contract has been signed. “We have already started to carry out work on the management of debris on roads of local significance with an asphalt surface,” the interviewer emphasized. She added that she makes the Easter decorations herself, the costs are minimal – for paint to update the decorations and flowers for the Easter compositions.
For landscaping, it will be necessary to carry out public procurement for the purchase of summer and perennial plants. “We have already purchased mulch for the renewal of the flower beds near the chapel in the Stragnai II settlement, services and works for the installation of lighting and small architectural elements will also be purchased. Due to the selection of plants for the landscaping of public spaces, apparently, the precinct’s plant specialist will have a greater burden,” said D. Bliūdžiuvienė.
Birutė Gedrimaitė-Miliuvienė, the secretary of Kretingalė ward, said that the main spring work is road maintenance, grading, graveling. Technology and resources are sufficient for the municipality.
“For the warm season, we traditionally decorate with annual flowers near the parking lot, flower arrangements in outdoor stationary pots near the town hall. The crocus meadow near the township, which we planted together with the members of the Kretingalė community last fall, has blossomed wonderfully,” said B. Gedrimaitė-Miliuvienė.
The plans include planting apple trees
Laima Tučienė, the elder of the Agluonėnai precinct, also confirmed that the spring maintenance work is usual: sweeping, raking, pruning, garbage collection, etc. We don’t do Easter promotions, and the flowers remain approximately the same: pansies, geraniums, serendias, lavender, hydrangeas, primroses, etc.,” said L. Tučienė. She mentioned that there are plans to renovate the village’s garden and plant new apple trees in the place of the disappeared ones.
