Indonesia’s Youth and Sports Minister, Dito Ariotedjo, has announced plans to set up a tailor-made scholarship program for Indonesian athletes. The program will be supported by the Finance Ministry’s Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) and will enhance the existing LPDP scholarship scheme. While further discussions are required before the scheme is finalized, the proposed program is aimed at advancing human resources in the national sports ecosystem. The program proposal will build on the previous LPDP scholarship scheme, under which athletes recording sports achievements received scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships will benefit from the recognition prescribed under Law No. 21 of 2022 on the Grand Design of National Sports, which specifies forms of recognition that can be given to athletes, such as scholarships, extraordinary promotions, state decorations, citizenship, welfare benefits, and other facilities that benefit the recipients.
Indonesia’s Youth and Sports Minister plans to create a customized scholarship program for athletes with support from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education.
