Government disburses 3 billion CFA francs for erosion treatment in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire

The Prime Minister, Anatole Collinet Makosso indicated on April 4 during oral questions to the government with debate in the Senate that an envelope of three billion CFA francs was disbursed in February 2023 by the government for the treatment of erosion in Brazzaville. And the disbursement of this emergency envelope was made according to emergency procedures.

Speaking before the senators, he revealed that the planned works can only really start towards the end of the rainy season, so that they can be carried out in the best conditions.

In these erosion-sensitive areas of Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, revegetation work should also be undertaken. By what it is necessary to start to vegetate the zones if one wants to do a technically perfect job, underlined the Head of government, Anatole Collinet Makosso.

Anatole Collinet Makosso singled out the neighborhoods concerned by the erosion treatment works in Brazzaville, in particular in Djiri, Talangaï and Madibou, and Pointe-Noire the Tié-Tié, Mongo-Poukou and Loandjli neighborhoods. In these areas, the work will consist of planting anti-erosion species such as acacia, grass, vetiver after the rainy season.

To fight against erosion, an interministerial committee to fight against erosion has been set up, said Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso.

The amount of three billion CFA francs should be increased to stem the progression of erosion in certain districts of Djiri, Talangaï and Madibou. Especially since some nine billion four hundred and thirty-seven million eight hundred and seventy-six thousand six hundred and eighty-four CFA francs have been injected for the treatment of the Ngamakosso ravine.
