The RAM 1500 REV was already unveiled during the Super Bowl, but now we also get to hear more about the technical details of the model, which will be presented at the New York Auto Show. The large American pick-up will receive a standard battery pack of 168 kWh for a maximum driving range of 560 km. With the optional larger battery pack, it even has 229 kWh (!) available, for a range of no less than 800 km.
RAM even announces an XR (Extra Range?) that should push the limits in terms of autonomy even further. Fortunately, the pick-up is also equipped with an 800 V architecture, which allows very fast charging of up to 350 kW. This allows you to refuel 175 km in 10 minutes.
Heavyweight
The RAM 1500 REV stands on the STLA Frame platform, which has been specially designed for electric pick-ups. It has two ‘electric drive modules’ (EDM, not to be confused with the music genre) with the electric motor, inverter and transmission built in for a total of 654 hp and 840 Nm, giving it amazing acceleration for such a large model: 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The front EDM can be disconnected for greater efficiency. Yet it is a real workhorse. It has active air suspension, a wading depth of 60 cm, a load capacity of 1,200 kilos and a towing capacity of up to 6,300 kilos!
Hightech
There’s a trunk up front that can swallow up to 425 liters of luggage or tools. The RAM 1500 REV can also supply up to 7.2 kW of power to external devices via a plug panel in the cargo area, while a further 3.6 kW socket is located in the front trunk. With the Tungsten trim level, the electric pickup gets a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system, including a 12-inch subwoofer. The cockpit is also up-to-date with a Uconnect infotainment system with a 12 or 14.5-inch touchscreen. The passenger also has its own 10.5-inch screen. Finally, the driver can count on a digital counter and a head-up display, while the RAM 1500 REV can also optionally be started with your smartphone.
