Iran appoints ambassador to the UAE, marking the first time since 2016

Iran appoints ambassador to UAE The new ambassador is Reza Ameri, who served as Director General in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is the first time since 2016 that Iran has appointed an ambassador to the UAE.

The UAE reinstated its ambassador to Iran last August. An Iranian delegation visited Abu Dhabi last month to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries.

Iran’s move comes shortly after it reached an agreement with Saudi Arabia to restore ties and reopen embassies after a long period of tension.
