The world champion coach, Lionel Scaloni, was invited by UEFA to the draw for the final phase of the Futsal Champions League and spoke highly of the sport. Here are some of the concepts he conveyed:
“Futsal seems to me a spectacular sport, directly related to 11-a-side football and from which we have learned a lot; In soccer, superiority with the goalkeeper is used more and more, as it is used a lot in futsal, playing one against one, many conclusions are drawn ”.
“In addition to having gone to see him as a fan (he has been seen many times in the stands following Palma Futsal), I went to see him because I was interested in observing him closely and drawing my conclusions and I really find it very interesting”.
“In the training stage it seems fundamental to me, if I were 4, 5 or 6 years old I would start playing futsal, I think it is essential, for the boys to learn the technique, it seems to me that both can be combined (for soccer and futsal), it should be like that”.
“If we all started in futsal, better players would come out, with more technique and the game would be better understood. Several players from Argentina started like that, but if I choose one, I don’t need to say his name… his name is like me.”
After the draw carried out in Palma de Mallorca by the Argentine coach, it was decided that in the semifinals Sporting CP will face Sporting Anderlecht Futsal (where the world champion, Maxi Rescia, also plays), and the host, Palma Futsal, will face Benfica.
Palma will host the final stage in the Velòdrom Illes Balears between May 5 and 7.
