Synopsis

As its title indicates, it is indeed a true story, that of Alvin Straight who, at the age of seventy-three, after a bad fall, decided to leave Laurens, a village in northern Iowa, to find his older brother who has just had a stroke. The two brothers have been angry for ten years. Despite his poor health and after thinking about their dispute, Alvin decides to go see Lyle in Wisconsin and undertakes a journey of several hundred miles on his own.
