Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has criticized the opposition’s decision to take the issue of alleged misuse of central probe agencies to the Supreme Court. Owaisi argued that the opposition parties should have taken the issue to the masses rather than the Supreme Court, stating that the outcome has given the ruling BJP an opportunity to justify their actions. Fourteen political parties, led by the Congress, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging arbitrary use of central probe agencies against opposition leaders and sought new guidelines governing arrests and remand. However, the apex court refused to take on the petition, arguing that laying down guidelines without evidence of a criminal case would be dangerous. Following the decision, Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized the opposition parties, saying that they have been exposed, and the Congress is leading the corrupts.
