For Neher, the celebrities are an important piece of the puzzle for a successful camp. “That is already evident from the fact that we have guests from all over the country. I’ve already seen people from Berlin, Cologne, Munich and Saxony today,” he reports. The Bulldogs are not so well-known in Germany. But of course awareness increases enormously. The Bulldogs hosted the camp for the first time last year. And because it was so well received and the Football School was also impressed by the professionalism, he and his 40 helpers took charge of the complex organization again this year.
Demonstration game at the end of the camp
The training of the offense, dressed in white, and the defense, dressed in black, which is completed on two artificial turf pitches in small groups – divided according to position – ends in the early afternoon. But in the Jahnstadion there will be a demonstration game and the honors of the best players of the camp (MVPs) as well as an autograph session with the pros. Neher is very satisfied with the 400 to 500 spectators who bought tickets for the final event. “The mood was great. Despite the rain that finally set in.”
All the participants in the camp have one wish in common: to increase the proportion of women. “Unfortunately, hardly any girls play football. Although we have a large youth department and are in second or third place in Baden-Württemberg and keep winning championship titles, there are only a few girls,” says Neher. This can also be seen on the training grounds. “But we now want to work together with the city of Ludwigsburg,” says the Bulldogs chairman.
