Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The wealth of the world’s conglomerates has risen to the point where these big businessmen are getting richer and richer. Quoting Forbes billionaires in real time, the wealth with the highest increase is a businessman whose business is thriving in Indonesia, Low Tuck Kwong.
1. Jeff Bezos
The wealth of the second person in the world rose 1.22% or USD 1.5 billion to USD 127 billion.
Although wealthy, he is known as a philanthropist. In fact, he intends to share most of his wealth throughout his life.
2. Low Tuck Kwong
Even though Low Tuck Kwong is ranked the 44th richest person in the world and not in the top 10, today his wealth has increased by 2.9% or USD 854 million to USD 30.2 billion.
Low Tuck Kwong’s wealth is highly volatile for a number of reasons. Firstly, the sources are not diversified and almost exclusively come from BYAN, meaning that the movement of BYAN’s shares will greatly dictate the amount of Low Tuck Kwong’s assets, for better or for worse.
Second, the business they are involved in is very dependent on commodity prices which are also very volatile. If coal prices cool down, eventually BYAN’s valuation is also expected to come under pressure and affect Low Tuck Kwong’s wealth.
The latest data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) records that Low Tuck Kwong owns 60.97% of BYAN shares, which is equivalent to Rp. 381 trillion in assets.
This wealth already represents nearly 97% of the wealth estimated by Forbes, this is because the wealth is concentrated in one company.
3. Carlos Slim Helu
The richest man in Mexico is the ruler of the largest telecommunications business in the Latin American region with brand America Mobile. Overnight, his wealth shot up to USD 785 million or the equivalent of Rp. 11.71 trillion.
Apart from telecommunications, he also has construction, consumer goods, mining and real estate businesses. He also once owned 17% of the New York Times, but later sold it.
4. Phil Knight
The conglomerate founder of Nike shoes is the 24th richest person whose wealth rose 1.35% or USD 626 million to USD 47.1 billion.
Phil Knight, retired as prr leader in June 2016 after 52 years with the company. Currently, Nike’s revenue is almost USD 45 billion.
5. Marck Zuckerberg
The Meta founder’s wealth increased by IDR 8.56 trillion overnight. Facebook, which he founded in 2004 when he was 19 years old, became the backbone of Zuckerberg’s accumulated assets.
Currently, he still owns 13% of Facebook shares, which later changed its name to Meta.
