Rupert Murdoch Breaks Off Fifth Marriage Engagement Due to Fiancé’s Evangelical Remarks

Rupert Murdoch is not getting married for the fifth time in his life. The 92-year-old media mogul has, according to Vanity Fair broke off his engagement to his girlfriend Ann Lesley Smith.

According to a source for the magazine, Murdoch abruptly called off the wedding because he was becoming “increasingly uncomfortable” with his fiancé’s outspoken evangelical remarks.

The news of an upcoming wedding was announced only two weeks ago. Murdoch then reported to the New York Post that 66-year-old Smith would probably become his last wife. The radio presenter was seen with a large diamond ring on her finger. The piece of jewelry would be worth about 2 million dollars (about 1.83 million euros).

The founder of News Corporation, one of the world’s largest and most influential media conglomerates, was married four times before. The last marriage to model Jerry Hall ended last summer after six years. Previously, Murdoch was married to Wendi Deng (1999-2013), Anna Maria Torv (1697-1999) and Patricia Booker (1956-1967).
