Moeldoko, the Presidential Chief of Staff in Indonesia, has filed another legal petition to challenge Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono’s leadership of the Democratic Party, the largest opposition party in the country. Moeldoko is not a member of the party but is seeking recognition of his claim to the top spot, which could harm the candidacy of Anies Baswedan, the presidential nominee of the Coalition for Change and Unity, the 2024 electoral alliance of which the Democratic Party is a member. Moeldoko’s previous petition, which aimed to overturn the refusal of the Law and Human Rights Ministry to ratify the results of a Democratic Party congress that had elected him the party chairman, was rejected by the Supreme Court.
