US and EU Consider Options to Reduce Europe’s Energy Dependence on Russia.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The United States and the European Union (EU) are considering options to further reduce Europe’s energy dependence on Russia, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday.

Russia’s weaponization of energy highlights the urgency of this task and the opportunity to accelerate our action (in the transition to clean energy),” he told reporters after meeting with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, in Brussels.

“We will focus on how we can further reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy and accelerate clean energy production in the Euro-Atlantic region,” added Antony Blinken.
