St. PetersburgKilled military blogger – Video shows alleged perpetrator bringing bomb into café
In the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Sunday there was an explosion in a cafe, killing well-known military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky. He is praised as an “immortal hero”.
That’s what it’s about

At one event, a bust was presented to military blogger Maxim Fomin.

Immediately after the surrender, an explosion occurred, killing Fomin and injuring several others present.

On his blog, Maxim Fomin, under the pseudonym Vladlen Tatarsky, published videos from the front and gave tips to young soldiers.
A woman reportedly presented military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, who strongly supports his country’s war in Ukraine, with a bust of him at a patriotic debate on Sunday. An explosion is said to have subsequently occurred in the café in the second largest Russian city. According to the Russian Ministry of Health, at least 30 people were injured. Now video recordings show how the alleged perpetrator brings the bomb into the café herself. In a later sequence you can also see how the later victim is given a statue. The bomb is said to have been hidden in the statue.
Nationalist ideologist Alexander Dugin has hailed the military blogger known as Vladlen Tatarsky, who was killed in an explosion in St. Petersburg as an “immortal” hero. He died to save the lives of the Russian people.
Blogger was known for “flaming war rhetoric”
According to the “Redaktions Netzwerk Deutschland”, Vladlen Tatarsky came from Donbass in eastern Ukraine. After the Maidan revolution in 2014, he initially fought as an insurgent for the independence of the pro-Russian Donbass. He later switched to journalism. In his military blog, Tatarsky distributed videos of what was happening at the front and recently gave young Russian soldiers tips on how to behave there. More than 500,000 people are said to have followed him on Telegram.
Tatarsky is said to have become active in the Ukraine war. He is said to have claimed to have helped launch combat drones and build fortifications, according to the BBC. The blogger was known in particular for his “flaming war rhetoric”. After Russia illegally annexed four regions of Ukraine last year, Tatarsky posted a video announcing: “We will defeat everyone, we will kill everyone, we will rob everyone. Everything will be as we want it».
The “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland” also says that Tatarsky is said to have been investigated. The daily newspaper “Novaya Gazeta” reported in autumn 2022 that nine Russian military bloggers could be charged with discrediting the Russian army – including the military blogger who has now been killed.
«There must be a victory parade in Kiev»
The Russian Foreign Ministry has suggested Ukraine’s possible involvement in the killing of Maxim Fomin, a man whose publications strongly supported Russia’s war in Ukraine. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said he had earned Kiev’s hatred with his activities. He and other military bloggers had been confronted with threats from Ukraine for some time.
The claim of Ukrainian authorship was also reflected in Dugin’s words. “There must be no talks with the terrorists other than their unconditional surrender,” he said. «There must be a victory parade in Kiev».
Dugin’s daughter, Darja Dugina, was killed in an attack near Moscow last year, for which the Russian side blamed the Ukrainian secret services.
Russia blames Navalny supporters
The deadly attack was carried out by Ukrainian special forces with the participation of supporters of the imprisoned Putin opponent Alexei Navalny, the Kremlin claims. 26-year-old Daria Trepova, suspected of involvement in the attack, was arrested on Monday. In a video published by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, she makes a confession. She smuggled a statue into the café – it then exploded. According to Russian information, Trepova is an “active supporter” of Navalny.
