The strong wind affected the entire Capital. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Bucharest-Ilfov announces that it had more than 60 interventions, caused by trees or poles knocked to the ground.
In total, 32 cars were damaged, 41 trees were snapped and six poles were knocked down
“As a result of the weather phenomena, during the yellow code, until today at 10:00, ISU B-IF managed 61 interventions (54 in Bucharest and 7 in Ilfov) for the removal of 41 trees, 12 construction elements, 6 poles, 1 electricity cable and 1 traffic light. 32 cars were damaged”, ISU Bucharest-Ilfov reported on Tuesday.
“Don’t park under trees”
The Bucharest Lakes, Parks and Leisure Administration (ALPAB) recommends avoiding areas that present a potential danger.
“Don’t park under trees. (….) We are doing our best to ensure that the land is cleared of fallen trees from the spaces we administer”, ALPAB transmits, in a post on Facebook.
Yellow storm and high wind code
The National Meteorological Administration has issued a yellow code warning of storm, strong wind, significant amounts of precipitation, snow and particularly cold weather in more than half of the country, including the Capital.
Until April 5 at 10.00 the weather will be particularly cold and temporarily there will be precipitation especially in the south, center and east of the territory, and during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (04/05 April), their area will narrow to the northeast.
It will rain in the southern and southeastern regions, and in the mountains and in the lower relief areas in the north and center of Moldova, Transylvania and Banat, precipitation will be reported in the form of sleet and snow and a layer of snow will be deposited locally. Water quantities will exceed 20…25 l/sq m and in limited areas, especially in the southwest, 40…50 l/sq m.
The wind will have temporary intensifications in Muntenia, in the south of Oltenia and Moldova where gust speeds will exceed 55…65 km/h and in limited areas 70…75 km/h.
Intensification of the wind will also be temporary in the rest of the country, and in the second part of the week there will be intervals with mixed precipitation, according to ANM.
The weather in the capital
In Bucharest, cold weather awaits us with maximums of up to 7 degrees, strong wind and rain throughout the day.
Also, in the coming weeks, the weather will be variable and predominantly cold. Precipitations will continue throughout April with a few spells of sunshine.
Only after the 3rd of May the weather will recover, we will get rid of the cold weather and the rains.
Snow code orange in mountain areas
From April 4, 22:00, in the Southern Carpathians and in the south of the Eastern Carpathians it will snow heavily (30…50 l/m2) and a consistent layer of snow will be deposited, especially at altitudes higher than 1400 m. The wind will intensify with speeds generally of 55…60 km/h and there will be periods of blizzard and low visibility.
