After train delays and the postponed start of the match, the home team was the strongest. Skånela defeated Lugi 34-30 in the first qualifying match for the Handball League.

Train delays don’t just affect commuters. It also affects Lugi’s men’s team. Today’s qualifying match against Skånela was supposed to start at 19:30, but had to be pushed up to 20:45. This after Lugi got stuck on a broken train on the way up to Märsta.

Despite the poor upload, Lugi was determined that the match would be played today, and just over an hour after the appointed time, the match was kicked off.

Perhaps the long day of travel had taken its toll, because it was difficult to recognize Lugi during the first half. Allsvenska Skånela made a move early in the match and led 8-4 after nine minutes.

The lead was up to five balls at times, but a second before the break, Adrian Hesslekrans reduced it to 16-12.

Lugi looked to be catching up during the start of the second half and was two balls away from Skånela after seven minutes. With the support of the crowd, however, the home team managed to regain the upper hand and were never threatened again.

Skånela won the match 34-30 and is thus in a good position to climb up to the Handball League.

Kenan Omerovic was brilliant in Skånela’s goal and landed at 34 in save percentage.
