And the Spanish newspaper, “La Gazzetta”, published a report in which it revealed that human smuggling mafias have been innovating new methods in the framework of their operations related to secret immigration, taking advantage of the island of Alboran recently.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that this path has grown steadily since the beginning of this year 2023, as several boats loaded with irregular migrants arrived on the island.
She explained that since the beginning of the year, ten illegal immigration boats had arrived on the island, carrying 138 people, which is a large number that will put pressure on the small island located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea between Morocco and Spain.
And compared to the previous year 2022, the newspaper said that the number of arrivals to the island did not exceed 6 people, but the situation has now changed.
La Cazzetta said that in the past, boats rarely reached Alboran Island, due to technical problems such as engine failure or lack of fuel.
She warned that the situation has changed now, after the island has turned into a port and a destination for smuggling networks that are deliberately heading there.
