The Muntinlupa City Police Station in the Philippines has vowed to maintain safety throughout the city during Holy Week by mobilising 490 law enforcers to ensure law and order for the duration of the event. Muntinlupa’s police chief has called for vigilance among members of the public, advising people to invest in security measures such as security cameras so they can view their homes remotely while out visiting other pilgrimage sites. Reports suggest that the rate of petty crimes in Muntinlupa remains low and manageable; however, there has recently been a surge in rape cases, with the number identified in the city rising from three to eight in the first quarter of 2018.
Muntinlupa City Police Station will deploy almost 500 trained law enforcers to maintain safety during Holy Week, particularly in checkpoint areas.
