March closed with seven homicides, the highest number of the year in Falcón state, a 40% increase compared to the five in February, while January with four remains the lowest number.
The quarter closed with 16 homicides, which represents an increase of 60% compared to the 10 violent deaths in the same period of 2022 (homicides and legal intervention).
Falcón reached 16 consecutive months with the statistics below 10 homicides, according to records of Cactus24. From November 2021, when 12 cases were registered, it is the last double-digit statistic.
Regarding the motives for the seven homicides in March, three were committed during fights, three for revenge and a settling of scores.
Of the homicides, three were registered in Miranda (42,85%)two in Hill (28.57%)one in Carirubana (14.28%) and one in Monseñor Iturriza (14.28%).
100% of the homicides were committed on public roads; four with firearms (57.14%) and three with a knife (42.8%).
As for the deceased: Jonny José Perozo (33) was stabbed in Sabana Larga on Tuesday the 7th; same day that he was stabbed to death during another fight Rafael Antonio Rovero (44) in Punto Fijo.
On Tuesday the 15th, members of a gang shot Cristian Rigoberto Petit (24) in La Urbina, Coro, and four days later, in El Torito in the municipality of Monseñor Iturriza, they shot former prisoner Jorfre José in the neck. Chirinos (29).
On Tuesday the 21st, the crime of lawyer Norvis Yoan Morales Freites (43) was recorded in the Cruz Verde subdivision; and that of Neomar José Chirinos (41) was added, the latter after more than a month of agony after being stabbed in a fight in the San Joaquín sector of the Colina municipality.
The seventh homicide was that of Wilfredo Rafael Pimentel Ventura, 15, committed on Thursday the 30th on Progreso de la Cruz Verde street in Coro, in which a 7-year-old girl named Camila was injured.
Regarding this case, relatives and police forces ruled out that the girl had any relationship by affinity or consanguinity with a lawyer investigated for the crime of lawyer Norvis Morales. “They were not relatives or acquaintances,” said sources close to the girl.
Of the seven homicides registered in March in Falcón, in five it was known that there were arrests (71.42%) of the cases.
