Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) is seeking the blessing of the Republic of Indonesia House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI regarding the corporate action of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) in changing from a telecommunications company to a digital infrastructure company.

“For the last 3 years we have been trying to transform Telkom from a telecommunication company to a digital infrastructure company,” said Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo at the DPR RI building, Jakarta, Monday (3/4).

The man who is familiarly called Tiko explained that as part of this transformation, the company has prepared a series of corporate actions for the next five years. Most recently, one of the corporate actions that has been carried out is by conducting a business separation or spin off of Telom’s subsidiary, Mitratel.

“Today we will explain how to integrate Telkom’s 2 main businesses, namely Telkomsel as a mobile provider and Indihome as fiber,” he said.

According to him, the integration between the mobile and fiber businesses can improve services to the community and the company’s revenue in the long term. This was done because the mobile business is currently experiencing a decline in growth.

“In the future we believe people will switch to fiber and wifi,” he added.

Tiko added that Telkom, as a state-owned company, must become a major player in this sector by carrying out transformations that are right on target so that mobile and broadband and wifi services can be available in one house.

“So that people can feel this service is integrated,” he concluded.
