“This was a tough decision because of all the work we and our partners have put into making this event happen, but we have to do what’s right for the industry and what’s right for E3. We appreciate and understand that interested companies will not have a playable demo ready and that resource challenges made being at E3 this summer an obstacle they could not overcome. To those who are truly committed to E3 2023, we’re sorry we weren’t able to showcase the work you deserve and you expect from the ReedPop event experience.”
The press release also adds that ReedPop and ESA will continue to work together on the upcoming E3 event. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and although a digital version is being held in 2021.
However, it was canceled again in 2022 in an effort to focus on “revitalized displays” that would set a new standard for the industry’s event hybrids. The return of E3 for this year was announced last June alongside confirmation that E3 2022 had been cancelled.
