A new species of dinosaur has been discovered in Argentina
Researchers are studying the fossil remains of a previously unknown dinosaur species in Patagonia.

Huynguel Square. In southern Argentina, scientists have discovered the fossilized remains of a previously unknown dinosaur species. Elemgasem nubilus belongs to the Abelisauridae group and lived about 90 million years ago, according to the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET). The carnivorous dinosaur moved on two legs, was about four meters long and almost two meters high.

The researchers discovered the skeletal remains near the town of Plaza Huynguel in the province of Neuquén, Patagonia. They came from a dinosaur that was at least eight years old, but not yet fully grown. The scientists describe their discovery in the journal Papers in Paleontology.

“Argentina and Patagonia in particular are among the most important places in the world for paleontology, along with China, the United States and Canada, because every year a large number of new discoveries are published in international journals,” said Mattia Piano, author of the study. “Each time we add one more grain of sand to the knowledge of past lives.”
