On the night of April 1, thunderstorms raged in New York, lightning struck One World Trade Center – the tallest building in the United States and one of the tallest in the world, writes The Daily Wire.
The height of the center is 541 meters (with a spire), or 1776 feet (1776 – the year of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. It is noted that lightning often hits this building. So, according to Accuweather between 2015 and 2020, lightning struck One World Trade Center 189 times.
According to the city administration, in a thunderstorm next to the building is safe, thanks to its modern security system. Alan Reiss, construction director at One World Trade Center, said it actually protects the surrounding area.
“Because One WTC is 1,776 feet tall, the tower essentially protects everything within a circle with it at its center and a radius of 1,776 feet.” – Reiss said.
The moment of the lightning strike on April 1 was caught on surveillance cameras. Video from different angles published channel David Videosify.
