A year ago, Ukraine repelled the greatest force against humanity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, as it marks one year since the discovery of the corpses of Ukrainian civilians in the city of Bucha, France Press reported. Bucha has become a symbol of the atrocities committed by Russian forces in Ukraine.
“People of Ukraine! You have stopped the greatest force against humanity in our time. You have stopped a force that hates and that wants to destroy everything that is important to people,” he added in a statement uploaded to Telegram and accompanied by from photos from the liberation of Bucha and its area a year ago, says AFP.
At the same time today, Oleksiy Danilov, head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that Kiev has developed a 12-point plan for the Crimean peninsula after Ukraine takes it back from Russia, DPA reported.
The plan includes destroying the Crimean Bridge, which provides a road and rail link between the peninsula and mainland Russia over the Kerch Strait. It also includes a purge of all those who have served the Russian authorities since Russia announced it was annexing Crimea in 2014. Oleksiy Danilov described all these people as “scum.” He pointed to the denazification of Germany after the Second World War as a model of action for the Ukrainian authorities.
According to the second stage of Kiev’s plan for Crimea, Russian collaborators and traitors to the Ukrainian state will be tried, and Russians who settled on the peninsula after February 2014 will be expelled and the purchase of their property will be canceled.
Political prisoners, including many Crimean Tatars, will be released under the plan.
“A long-term detoxification program will be implemented in order to neutralize the effects of Russian propaganda on the public consciousness of part of the population,” Danilov said.
