Over 50% of Spaniards Lack the Latest Covid Booster | @diariofarma

He Sociological Research Center (CIS) ensures in the latest edition of the Health Barometer that 53.3% of Spaniards have not received the last booster dose against the Covid vaccine.

It is mainly young people who have not come to comply with the so-called four puncture (second reinforcement) launched after the appearance of the delta and omicron variants. Specifically, 72.5% of people between the ages of 25 and 34 gave up this inoculation. Among young people between the ages of 18 and 24, 67% have not received it either.

Other data provided by the CIS survey is that the main follow-up has been in those over 65 years of age with very high acceptance rates, above 70%, although markedly lower than the results over 90% registered in the two first pricks of the normal vaccination schedule. Among those over 75 years of age, vaccination has reached 79.5%, while in the age group between 65 and 74 years it reaches 73.3%.

The reasons, according to the answers given to the CIS questionnaire, are linked in 20% of the cases to not receiving the corresponding notice from the health authorities and 15.2% say they thought it was no longer necessary to get vaccinated. 10% consider that the doses that have already been inoculated (the two of the regimen plus the booster) are already sufficient.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, a total of 105 million doses have been inoculated in Spain. The complete vaccination schedule; that is, the two initial punctures have been applied to 92.8% of the population.
