The Coombe hospital in Dublin has temporarily halted the processing of cervical screening samples after the Irish National Accreditation Board suspended its accreditation. The move follows wider concerns over laboratory sample testing arrangements in Ireland. The lab, which opened in January, had been processing around 800 samples per week, sent to it from the CervicalCheck programme. Almost 4,000 tests have been carried out at the facility since it opened. Screenings have now been sent to other labs in Ireland and the United Kingdom. No date has been confirmed for the resumption of the service at the Coombe.
