The situation surrounding Naughty Dog and Sony’s The Last of Us Part I is still evolving. On Steam the title already has over 12,000 reviews and their ratings are gradually improving. At the moment, 43 percent of players evaluate the news positively. On Metacritic the situation is a little wilder. From the first six reviews, the game has an average score from critics of 56 percent, but the players are much tougher. At the moment, the user score is 1.7 out of 10 possible points.
Meanwhile, the developers reached out to Twitter with further comment. “We know some of you are not experiencing the quality you expect from Naughty Dog. Our teams are working hard to resolve the issues that are currently preventing some of you from enjoying the game,” the authors throw ashes on their heads, saying that they want to make sure that the title will of course reach the level of quality that fans expect and want deserve.
After two quick updates this week, another smaller patch is on the way. Among other things, it should focus on control problems, specifically the mouse and camera. The developers also want to prevent further crashes of the game, and then they vaguely promise more fixes. This patch pack should arrive for The Last of Us Part I on PC on Tuesday. The same week, however, we will also see a larger patch with additional interventions. This could already have a more dramatic impact on the overall quality.
Otherwise, the authors generally advise gamers to make sure they are using the latest drivers for Nvidia, AMD, and Intel graphics cards. Naughty Dog and their colleagues from the Iron Galaxy studio, who were primarily in charge of the port, are determined, according to statements on Twitter, to continue to find and remove all the problems, so that the result is a version that does not embarrass the game.
