Hospitals in Kashmir are seeing a surge in patients with Syncytial Virus (RSV), Influenza-A (H1N1, H3N2), and Influenza-B viruses amid COVID-19 resurgence. Doctors have warned of a rise in intense cough, running nose, sore throat, and body ache. While some patients test positive for COVID-19 and influenza, most have a prolonged cough that responds poorly to routine treatments. Lung involvement is rare, and the majority settle within a week to 10 days. Doctors have advised people to remain alert and follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), respiratory hygiene, and cough etiquette to prevent the spread of infections. The Union Health Ministry is closely monitoring seasonal influenza situations in various states through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network on a real-time basis.
