Converted Joram van Klaveren: From Anti-Islam Writer to Believer

The view Joram van Klaveren changed when writing a book that originally raised the topic of anti-Islam. From the research he did, he decided to become a convert.

The story of this writer who is also known as a right-wing Dutch politician is indeed quite interesting. He shocked many of his colleagues after deciding to embrace Islam.

So far, the man who was born in Amsterdam, January 23, 1979 was the right hand man of anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders. He accused Islam of being a lie and the Koran being poison.

For years, while a member of parliament for Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party (PVV), Joram van Klaveren waged a relentless campaign against Islam in the Lower House of the Dutch parliament.

Interesting, Joram van Klaveren admits he decided to convert to Islam while writing a book he intended to be an anti-Islam book.

“During that writing, I found more and more things that made my view of Islam shake,” said Joram van Klaveren in an interview on the Dutch TV show NieuwLicht as reported by the Independent media.

On October 26, 2018, ahead of the release of his book entitled Apostate: From Christianity to Islam in the Time of Secular Terror, he officially converted to Islam.

By becoming a convert, Joram van Klaveren following in the footsteps of Arnoud van Doorn, a former colleague at the PVV who became an adviser to the City of The Hague. Like Arnoud, Joram van Klaveren made the decision to convert to Islam while writing an anti-Islamic book.

Furthermore, in 2019 to be precise, Joram van Klaveren returned to writing religious books. There, he told the process of becoming a convert.
