Now, when shopping on the Internet, buyers have the opportunity to pay not only with bank payment cards or an Internet banking solution, but also through an e-wallet – “Apple Pay”. Currently, all e-commerce users can use this option on their “Apple” devices when shopping at merchants that use the “Swedbank EveryPay” solution.
Valdis Vaišlia, Head of the Money Management Department of “Swedbank”, states: “During the last three years, the interest of customers to make payments through the “Apple” e-wallet has been very high. The number of payments in 2022 has increased 3.5 times and reached 50 million payments. They already account for 20% of the total payments served by “Swedbank” at the points of sale. And a particularly rapid increase was observed just last year, when 627 million euros were transferred through the “Apple” e-wallet. The now introduced option also allows merchants to include “Apple Pay” on its e-commerce platforms, which will help customers pay for goods and services more easily.”
Businesses who want to use the payment options of “Apple Pay” in their e-commerce platform must activate this option in the “Swedbank” internet bank, while companies that do not yet have an e-commerce service contract must conclude an agreement on accepting online payments.
With the implementation of “Apple Pay” also for e-commerce platforms of companies, “Swedbank” has completed the full cycle of “Apple Pay” implementation. Since the end of 2019, private individuals have been able to add Swedbank payment cards to their Apple devices and use the Apple Pay service.
