On Friday, the Egyptian Zamalek achieved a moral victory over its Sudanese guest Al-Merreikh (4-3) in the sixth and last stage of the Group D matches, within the African Champions League competitions.
Zamalek advanced with two quick goals scored by both players, Mustafa Shalaby, and Nasser Mansi, in the two minutes (1 and 3), respectively.
The guests responded with three consecutive goals by each of the players, Ramadan Ajab, Al-Jazouli Noah, and Paulo Sergo Luiz in the minutes (7, 48, 56), respectively.
But Nasser Mansi came back and equalized by scoring his second personal goal and the third for the landlords by the 64th minute, and then snatched the fourth winning goal for his team in the fatal time, when the meeting was breathing his last at Cairo International Stadium, to sign his third personal goal, a “hat-trick”.
Thus, Zamalek raised its balance to 7 points in third place, while Al-Merreikh’s balance froze at 5 points in fourth place.
It is noteworthy that the two teams have lost hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the most glorious African cups, as both Tunisian Esperance and Algerian Belouizdad youth secured the crossing cards.
