A data breach affected 95,000 individuals who were members of the PME pension fund.

NOS News

95,000 participants of the PME pension fund have also fallen victim to the major data breach among market researchers. Some of them also contain information about their monthly salary.

According to PME, specific income data has been leaked that can be used to calculate how high the pension accrual should be. Telephone numbers, gender and age (not date of birth) of pension fund participants have also been leaked.

The cause is the Nebu software, which research agencies use. Despite repeated attempts, Nebu has not yet been available for comment for NOS.

Pensioenfonds PME emphasizes that it is legally obliged to have surveys carried out among its members. Income data can be important for the interpretation of questions in these studies.

Only people who are still building up their pension have had their income data leaked. A spokesperson cannot yet say how large this group is. It therefore does not concern participants who are already receiving a pension. What is affected are so-called ‘sleepers’, people who were participants in the past. All concerned have been notified by email.

Numbers of PFZW unclear

Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn also indicates that it has been affected by the data leak, but says that it does not concern financial data. A spokesperson could not provide any further information.

The pension funds are the umpteenth parties that have become clear that they have been affected by a digital attack at software company Nebu. Earlier this week it appeared that customers of NS, VodafoneZiggo and health insurer CZ are among the victims. Data from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and housing corporation Stadgenoot have also been leaked.

All those affected have had access to customer data, it is not yet clear whether the data has actually been stolen. A number of market researchers have filed summary proceedings in this regard. That should be next Tuesday.
