In the battle for Bakhmut, Ukrainian artillery faces Russian armored vehicles. Using a self-propelled gun, the Ukrainian artillery crew is also trying to destroy Russian command posts. They revealed to the Current Time media on March 27 that they have observed a decrease in the frequency of Russian attacks, but added that intense fighting continues.
Ukrainian soldier Oleksandr: “Our area of responsibility is 28 kilometers. That’s our shot range, so it’s all our responsibility. We are working on counter attacks. But if they find a command post behind the front line, we immediately target that too. The range and caliber of the shots allows us to find them even underground – to reach and disrupt any dugout.”
Ukrainian soldiers say that they recently destroyed a Russian howitzer.
“They woke us up at night. We illuminated the coordinates with a flashlight; the crew told me where to shoot – nothing complicated. After some adjustments, we finally hit it,” says one of the soldiers.
Artillerists claim that Russian soldiers continue to focus on capturing Bakhmut, but the intensity of their attacks has decreased.
“It’s a bit quieter now. We either wore them down or beat them a little. But now it’s a bit quieter than a month ago in February. Back then we worked all the time, day and night. But now you can see for yourself that we are standing and chatting,” states Oleksandr.
