Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Council (BMKG) predicts that the Jogja region will experience extreme weather in the form of heavy rain, strong winds, to hail. This is due to movement tropical cyclone Herman on the south coast of Java.

The Head of the BMKG Jogja Meteorological Station Warjono in a virtual press conference explained that there would be an increase in convective cloud activity caused by an increase in air supply in the Java region due to the movement of tropical cyclone Herman. So that it will cause extreme weather in Java and DIY.

“Tropical cyclone Herman affected an increase in air supply in the Java region, so that convective cloud activity relatively increased. This affected the occurrence of several quite extreme weather conditions in the Java and Yogyakarta regions,” said Warjono, as reported by Antara. detikJatengFriday (31/3/2023).

Warjono explained that this cyclone is predicted to be active until April 4, 2023. This cyclone was discovered after the BMKG conducted monitoring and detected the presence of tropical cyclone Herman in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday (29/3).

Furthermore, through the display of satellite imagery carried out by BMKG on March 31, 2023, at 07.00 this cyclone was on the south side of the island of Java. Warjono said that the movement of tropical cyclone Herman would cause heavy rain, wind and hail.

“It could be in the form of heavy rain accompanied by wind and there is even the potential for hail,” he said.

He revealed that tropical cyclone Herman would move south of Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta with a peak in the east today at 12.00 before finally returning west.
