Today Friday (31.3.2023) at noon, the two Pakistanis who have been arrested and accused of participating in a terrorist organization, which was going to “hit” a Jewish restaurant in Psirri, in the center of Athens, will be brought before the investigator.
The two Pakistani detainees are asked to apologize for forming and joining a criminal organization as allegedly “recruited” by a branch of the “Islamic Revolutionary Guards” and carry out the “hit” on the Jewish restaurant in Psirri, with the promise of a hefty payment.
In the case file it is stated that the leading role in the case is played by an unknown person who seems to have been giving orders to the two from abroad. The prosecution for this person concerns the offenses of directing a terrorist organization and inciting to participate in a terrorist organization (misdemeanor), who is said to be in Iran.
The defendants, one of whom was arrested in Zakynthos and the other in Skala Lakonia, have not yet contacted a lawyer and today they are expected to request the appointment of a lawyer who will undertake their representation by order of the judicial officer. The process in this case is likely to delay the commencement of the hearings so that the counsel to be appointed is informed of the case material.
The EYP has been closely monitoring for some time the two Pakistanis who were arrested on the charge of planning a terrorist attack on a Jewish restaurant in Psirri, where an operation to arrest the 27-year-old Haider was preceded in late 2022, before the one in Laganas Zakynthos.
In fact, as tempo24.news reported, the operation was carried out with a large group of EYP executives and was decisive for the outcome of this serious case, as it was then that the 27-year-old was spotted for the first time in Zakynthos.
The same information from tempo24.news states that this first operation of the EYP was extremely difficult due to identity issues and had to be correlated with other data in order to reach the person they were looking for. In fact, the search efforts were not facilitated even by the descriptions and other material that existed for confidential use.
During the searches, until they located the house where the Pakistani lived, not a single official car was used. On the contrary, all the members of the experienced EYP team moved with private vehicles, while according to information, vehicles were also rented from other regions of the country.
When the Pakistani was located in the house in Lagana, where he lived with 11 other land workers, the process of monitoring him began. According to tempo24, a building was used that facilitated the surveillance of Pakistan’s movements.
About the 29-year-old Hussein, a compatriot reported to ALPHA TV that “he was a quiet, closed child. I didn’t realize he was a fanatical Islamist or anything like that” and was working to send money to his large family in a village in eastern Pakistan.
It was already known that he had crossed illegally from Turkey to Greece in 2017 and was initially held in a facility in Drama, before finally ending up in Athens and being arrested for membership of a terrorist organization. His compatriot was with him in the structure.
