North Korea publicly executes people for distributing South Korean media, drug use, and religious activities.
The North Korean regime violates human rights. There is evidence of public executions and torture. Deaths are reported on a regular basis in detention facilities, prisoners are tortured, and some people have been summarily executed after being caught trying to cross the border.
“North Korean citizens’ right to life is likely to be under serious threat,” the Republic of Korea’s Unification Ministry in Seoul said.
