The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) team, Barunastra, has won the International Roboboat Competition (IRC) for the fifth time in a row. The event, which took place in Sarasota, Florida from March 22-28, saw 24 teams compete, including established institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Barunastra competed with its latest boat, the Nala Proteus, and emerged as the Grand Champion, also taking 2nd place in the Design Documentation category. The IRC has two categories, Autonomous and Design Documentation, with the latter including design reports, team videos, and online/offline presentations on the team’s strategies in solving its design as well as how the boat was made. The teams had three stages of competition: qualifying, semifinals, and finals, with the same scoring system and missions applied in the final round, but with a more stringent system. Barunastra is aiming to progress to a higher level of competition in the future with hopes of participating in the RobotX Competition. The team achieved support from private and state companies such as PT PLN, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, PT Meratus, PT Airfast Indonesia, PT Harbour Energy, PT PN X, PT Bukit Asam, and PT Petrokimia Gresik.
