In his most recent competitive matches, Jacob Ondrejka, 20, has scored goals in Allsvenskan, with the U21 and A national teams.
Now the winger is about to leave Elfsborg in the summer.
Ondrejka has visited Belgian top club Antwerp, Sportbladet learns.
Jesper Karlsson left Elfsborg in autumn 2020 for Dutch AZ Alkmaar. The Borås club had then already recruited an intended replacement in Jacob Ondrejka.
In the last two seasons, the former Landskrona Bois player with seven goals and four assists in the Allsvenskan has shown what talent and potential he has with his speed, shot and technique.
AZ interested this winter
This has caused AZ to show interest in Ondrejka – as a possible replacement for Karlsson, who is likely to leave Alkmaar for a huge sum.
But there was no transfer to AZ during the recent winter window for Ondrejka, who last summer was also linked with Turkish giants Besiktas.
Now, instead, it is Belgian third-placed Royal Antwerp, coached by former Dutch great Mark van Bommel, who looks to be in the driver’s seat to sign the dribbler.
Antwerp is very keen to sign Ondrejka.
Ondrejka has visited Antwerp
According to Sportbladet’s Belgian sources, Ondrejka should have visited the club recently ahead of a possible transfer in the summer. The Belgian transfer window is open from June 15 to September 6.
The 20-year-old has a contract that expires with Elfsborg at the turn of the year, but in the case of a transfer to the summer, which will be finalized shortly, the Borås club would still be paid for the star player.
On Thursday, Jacob Ondrejka did not participate in the Borås team’s training, according to Göteborgs-Posten’s Elfsborg reporter Joel Besseling.
Former IFK Gothenburg midfielder Alhasan Yusuf has been playing in Royal Antwerp.
Decided in the national team debut
In his last five competitive matches, Jacob Ondrejka has accounted for three goals and one assist: decisive 1-0 in the Allsvenskan final away to AIK, finishing 2-2 against Denmark and an assist against Azerbaijan, both points in two matches with the U21 national team and the winning goal to 2-1 for Sweden against Iceland in the debut in the A national team at the January meeting in Portugal.
Later on Thursday afternoon, Elfsborg’s club manager Stefan Andreasson confirms that Ondrejka has received permission to visit a club.
– We have a good dialogue with each other. There has been interest in Jacob for a long time from several clubs. Either we would extend the contract with him or a sale would become an issue if the right club appears for him and where we can agree on the deal.
– Ondrejka is a high-class player and Elfsborg does not release players cheaply like some kind of Bosman player. Now he has received permission to visit an interested club, says Andreasson to Sportbladet.
