Premier League clubs are on the verge of reaching an agreement to remove advertising for betting sites from the front of jerseys, where the kit is most prominent (see associated news).
Currently, eight clubs out of the twenty Premier League clubs have a website/bookmaker as the main sponsor on the front of the jersey – none of them from the so-called ‘big six’ (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham) -, such as Newcastle, Fulham (contracts expire at the end of the season), Wolverhampton, Everton, West Ham or Brentford.
Starting from this news, we looked at the Portuguese reality, that is, how many clubs have betting sites as the main sponsor on the front of the shirt. Not only is the percentage much higher (12 out of 18, i.e. 66.6 percent of clubs) when compared to England (40 percent), but two of the big three (FC Porto and Sporting) have that record on their equipment. , also joining SC Braga.
