FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that the cancellation of Indonesia to host the U-20 World Cup was not an end.
“I think this event should not make us lose enthusiasm like the apocalypse,” said Vice President Ma’ruf Amin in Banda Aceh on Thursday (30/3).
The world football federation (FIFA) ruled out Indonesia as the host for the U-20 World Cup after FIFA President Gianni Infantino held his meeting with PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir on Wednesday (29/3).
“I think this has indeed happened that Indonesia will not be the organizer for the U-20, this has become a decision,” added the Vice President.
The Vice President said that all parties must be sincere with the FIFA decision. “We have to accept anything with sincerity, but that doesn’t mean it will end for our football world,” said the Vice President.
According to the Vice President, FIFA itself still wants to continue fostering Indonesian national football.
“And of course there are ‘events’ that our football can also take part in internationally, because in my opinion the decision to cancel the U-20 event should not make us become pessimistic, then become discouraged,” added the Vice President.
Moreover, the Indonesian government has established a National Sports Grand Design (DBON).
“The Grand Design of our National Sport must not be disturbed, it must continue and development must continue, so that our football has a good reputation, our football must be global, must be good, must be able to become champions both in ASEAN, in Asia and even at the world level,” explained the Vice President.
