Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Prime Minister of Scotland (Prime Minister), Hamza Yusuf, sparked a wide interaction among activists on social networking sites after a picture showing him leading his family after his election as head of the Scottish government.
The photos were posted by Hamza Youssef on his official Twitter page, commenting: “My family and I spent our first night in the BUTE house (the official residence of the Prime Minister of Scotland) after today’s parliamentary vote…a special moment for my family to lead the prayer in the BUTE house as usual after breakfast together “.
It is noteworthy that Youssef, who has served as a member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Pollock since 2016 and in Glasgow between 2011 and 2016, is the first Muslim and non-white minister to work in the Scottish government. He was born in Glasgow, to a father from Pakistan and a mother from Kenya.
Yusuf won 52% of the final votes cast and is working on a platform dedicated to achieving Scottish independence, fighting the cost of living crisis, joining the European Union and transitioning to renewable energy.
