The City organized a consultation meeting on Tuesday evening around one of the flagship projects of this term.
The City of Bron organized a large consultation meeting with the inhabitants on Tuesday evening around one of the flagship projects of the term of office, namely the redevelopment of Place de la Liberté. This vast plot of 20,000 m² is located in the heart of the city, and has been the subject of a redevelopment project by the new municipality. This recalls having obtained from the Metropolis, owner of the land, “that it finally launches a consultation and releases a first line of credit of more than one million euros”.
Place de la Liberté is indeed the second largest space in the Rhône after Place Bellecour, but serves as a car park with around 400 spaces. This is mainly used as a relay car park for residents of the Metropolis, and is de facto not used in the evenings and on weekends. “The very mineral and very exposed site is a real source of heat and deserves to be vegetated”, notes the City, which considers that this open-air car park does not today meet a strong expectation of the Brondillants, namely to connect the two commercial spaces of the avenues Franklin-Roosevelt and Camille-Rousset, by a convivial place of life, a place of animation, a place of meetings.
Explain the process of the consultation
In order to share this reflection, the mayor of Bron Jérémie Bréaud, his deputies as well as the vice-presidents of the Métropole, Béatrice Vessilier and Laurence Boffet, thus exchanged with more than 200 people during this first meeting which took place Tuesday at City Hall.
The first purpose of this meeting was to explain the course of the consultation (from March to May 2023), on paper file at the Town Hall, via workshops, a dedicated email address ([email protected] ) or via the platform (jeparticipe.grandlyon.com). The entire schedule has also been unveiled, which gives hope for the delivery of the first works in mid-2026, a second by 2030.
The mayor of Bron strongly encouraged the inhabitants of the city to seize this project today.
“This redevelopment of the square is a tremendous opportunity for our city. As with every new project, fears may exist, we are here to move forward together and rethink the future of this major public space”.
