Announced in the 12 points of Prime Minister Alain Billie By Nze’s roadmap, the meeting will take place tomorrow Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the various provinces of Gabon.
The news was made public by government spokesperson Yves Fernand Mamfoumbi on Thursday, March 29, 2023. Indeed, the government spokesperson announced that these meetings, which have the overall objective of ” define, with all the stakeholders, the measures to be implemented to improve the purchasing power of the populations will be held in two phases, namely: in the provincial capitals from March 30 to 31. At this level, they will be placed under the coordination of two members of the government and under the technical supervision of provincial governors and decentralized services.
A provincial committee will be set up. Administrative authorities, economic operators, associations of traders, consumers and civil society will take part in the work. These will take place in plenary and in committees on the selected themes. As a second phase, national meetings in Libreville, from April 7 to 10, under the coordination of the Prime Minister and the technical responsibility of the Minister of State in charge of the Fight against the high cost of living. A national committee will be created. The selected themes on which the speakers will dwell will concern food and catering, housing and construction, transport, health and education, taxation and incidental taxation.
Finally, the government spokesperson did not fail to list the various measures taken by the government to fight against the high cost of living in Gabon. In particular by freezing the price of petroleum products at the pump, setting up a price list for basic necessities and mass consumption products, free transport in Libreville, Owendo and Akanda as well as setting up of a ministry dedicated to the fight against the high cost of living.
