Semi-finalist of Star Academy, Sofia Essaïdi embraced a singing career from which she gradually broke away, preferring film sets for television and cinema. The artist confides about her experience as a solo singer with some hindsight.
Since 2005 and his participation in the film Iznogoud by Patrick Braoudé, Sofia Essaïdi has chained the successes on the small screen and in the cinema. The actress who distinguished herself two years earlier in season 3 of Star Academy initially led a career as a solo singer, notably publishing the album Mon cabaret (2005). But it was more within collective adventures that she subsequently distinguished herself, taking the title role of the musical Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt (2008) or by joining the Enfoirés troupe more recently.
While glancing in the rearview mirror, the one who plays Caroline Dewitt in The fighters speaks today about his previous musical projects, explaining thatshe had hit a wall. “In my singing career, I was not happy. I love group projects, multi-artist albums… I never found my place in solo!“ she explained to La Gazette Magbefore giving the possible reasons.

A return to music envisaged for Sofia Essaïdi?
Perceived by his own admission as a “product”speaking of “disillusionment” and of “difficulty” as she wanted to release a new record in the early 2010s, Sofia Essaïdi was quickly exhausted and preferred to throw in the towel. After the publication of several singles, the artist began in 2015 a “inner work” et “liberator” to approach his profession differently. That’s when she wanted “stop the music”. “For a while, anyway”she nuanced.
During this interview, the interpreter of woman of today explains that she has “strength” and tried to impose himself, to “prove” that she had “Something to say” through his own songs. “But no one was interested. I was up against a wall. When you’re not listened to, not recognized, it’s hard and we’re unhappy“ she admitted. Finally, Sofia Essaïdi turned to cinema and “gained in positive energy”. “I took a coach to work on acting, to be legitimate and I landed more and more interesting roles that suited me. That’s when I really understood that I had found my placethat I was on my way” she added, visibly more serene.
What about music today? The actress who must take part in the filming ofan adaptation of the novel To Fish Albert Camus alongside Hugo Becker is planning a return to singing later. “But with love and kindness, doing what I want to do… Those who want to follow me will follow me” she concluded, mischievously.
