As the world looks to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Indonesia has made remarkable progress in achieving these goals. The country has successfully implemented several initiatives that have positively impacted all 17 SDGs. From eradicating poverty to improving the education system, Indonesia has continuously worked towards meeting the targets that have been set out by the United Nations. In this article, we will discuss the various indicators that track Indonesia’s remarkable journey towards achieving the SDGs.
Indonesia has achieved more than half of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, according to Ivanovich Agusta, the head of the Development and Information Agency at the Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Ministry. Speaking at the 10th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in Bangkok, Agusta said Indonesia had registered strong progress towards SDG goals focused on water, sanitation, public transport, water resources, green spaces, energy efficiency, sustainable industry, reduced carbon emissions, high-tech exports and data availability. He added that data had played a key role in charting progress and would be central in future efforts. As of December last year, 32 of Indonesia’s 38 provinces had established province-level SDGs Action Plans. The government was also working with the academic community and international development partners to advance SDGs implementation.
